We’ve Lost Touch

I was thinking about an old friend recently when the phrase, “We’ve lost touch” came to mind. It started me thinking about that phrase and how, in our current situation, it is more apropos than ever before. With social distancing, we have all, literally, lost touch.

That brought to mind Michelangelo’s famous The Creation of Adam painting from the Sistine chapel. The hand of God outstretched to Adam’s hand, the primal act of connection, ready to set it all in motion.

I love that a group of praying people who were inspired to start the 7 days of prayer for San Antonio, heard together that San Antonio is being held by God. We can all pray into that beautiful image of God holding us, the family of God called San Antonio. The words of Isaiah 41:13 come to mind. The Lord says, “I will hold you in the palm of My hand.”

Some suggestions for not losing touch: meeting with family members and friends over the phone and online. Warm voice tones come through and bless our loved ones. You can almost feel the smiles. Our intercessory prayer lead, Debby Boggs, recommends taking communion everyday, a very physical act, as a reminder of the connection we have with God. These small things can help out in a big way. Let’s not lose touch!
